How We Make Money
Canadian Money Guide participates in affiliate marketing programs. This means that when you click on certain links on our site and take an action (such as opening an account, applying for a credit card, or completing a money transfer), we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you.
These commissions are how we fund our research and keep our content free for everyone.
Our Commitment to You
We never let affiliate relationships influence our recommendations. Every product we compare is evaluated against the same criteria: publicly available rates, fees, features, and user feedback. A product doesn't rank higher because it pays a higher commission, and we don't exclude products that don't pay commissions.
In practice, this means:
- Comparison tables include products with and without affiliate relationships. If a product is the best option for a specific use case, we include it — regardless of whether we get paid.
- Our "Best for" picks are based on research criteria (see How We Research), not commission rates.
- We disclose affiliate links before any commercial call-to-action. Look for this text near any link that may generate a commission:

What "Affiliate Link" Means
When you see a product link with a disclosure label, here's exactly what happens:
- You click the link and go to the partner's website
- A tracking cookie is placed in your browser (usually valid for 30-90 days)
- If you complete a qualifying action (e.g., open an account, complete a transfer), the partner records the conversion
- Canadian Money Guide receives a commission from the partner
- You pay the same as if you had gone directly to the partner's website
